About Me

Morgan Purdy-She/Her/Hers

I am a Clinical Social Worker/Psychotherapist (MSW, RSW) and integrate a variety of evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness-based & Somatic approaches to provide individual psychotherapy and group therapy. I specialize in treating chronic stress, anxiety and trauma and passionate about offering yoga therapy and EMDR therapy in treating trauma and other psycho-emotional challenges.

I aim to foster a compassionate, inclusive, safe and non-judgmental environment for persons of all backgrounds. I believe that anti-oppressive practice is integral for creating a positive therapeutic relationship. I understand that experiences of trauma are often a result of systemic equalities and discrimination (i.e. racism, sexism, and more). I reflect of my identity as a White, cis-gender, middle class woman of European descent and I aim to mitigate unconscious biases embedded in dominant social norms when working across difference.

I have over 6 years of experience providing mental health support for children/youth (ages 0-18), adults and families. I have experience practising in settings such as primary health care, residential treatment, private practice, and non-profit community agencies.

I believe that every person has the inner strength & resilience to overcome the obstacles that life hands them and am honoured to accompany the journey of those who seek my support.

Therapy is a journey into the parts of ourselves that we have deemed as undesirable, unwanted, unworthy. It invites compassion and acceptance to all parts of ourselves, our history, our current battles, so that we can experience ourselves as whole.
