Yoga therapy is the application of specific yogic practices (postures/movement, breathing techniques, mindfulness, meditation and more) and their known benefits to address ailments of the body, mind, and spirit. These tools can be used to improve one’s physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. Yoga therapy is a unique healing modality as it addresses ailments from a holistic perspective rather than viewing each aspect of the self as separate from each other. Yoga therapy is different from regular yoga classes as each of the sessions are designed to address the unique issues of each individual or small group.
Yoga/Yoga therapy in recent years has gained attention in medical settings due to the research that illustrates the significant health benefits. Yoga therapy is being used as complementary treatment for many mental and physical illnesses, including but not limited to mental stress, PTSD, depression, anxiety, addiction, eating disorders, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and more!
Morgan’s integration of yoga therapy techniques in the context of psychotherapy is to address (dis)ease of the mind. Morgan is trained in Trauma Informed Yoga Therapy (TIYT) through Sundara Yoga Therapy and is a part of the faculty for TIYT Canada. Morgan offers a yoga therapy group called the Overcome!™ Clinic design for addressing mental health challenges such as chronic stress, anxiety, trauma, and depression.
